Submit a Google Form once for every row of a spreadsheet
Paper surveys typed into a sheet, registrations from an event, inspection checklists: when the answers already sit in a spreadsheet, you don't need to click through the form 200 times.
What you need: Chrome, the free Fillhand extension and your sheet exported as CSV or .xlsx (File → Download in Google Sheets). No account, no code. Your data never leaves your computer.
Step by step
- Install Fillhand and pin it. Click the toolbar icon to open the side panel.
- Open the Google Form in a tab. In the panel, choose Record new and fill the form once by hand, exactly as you normally would — type, pick from dropdowns, tick boxes, click Save.
- Click Stop. Each action is now a step you can read and edit.
- Go to Data and import your CSV or Excel (.xlsx) file. The first row should hold the column names.
- Open the macro, set Data source to your file, and replace each typed value with a placeholder: click the value, then
{{row.Email}},{{row.Company}}… (the panel lists your columns). - Add a final Go to page step with the form's link, or record the “Submit another response” click, so every row starts on an empty form.
- Press Run. Fillhand repeats the macro once per row and shows ✓ or ✗ for each one.
- If a row fails, the panel shows which step and why. Fix it and press Run failed and remaining rows — rows already done are not entered twice.
- Export the results as CSV (with a status column) if you need a record of what was entered.
Tips that save a rerun
- Multiple-choice and checkbox questions: put the exact option text in the cell (
Strongly agree; several asA; B). - Required questions that are empty in a row make that row fail with the form's own message — fix the cell and re-run the failed rows.
- Only submit responses you are entitled to submit; Fillhand types what is in your sheet, nothing more.
